Located in the Imagination Station, VRD staff will provide materials and teach some simple techniques that are too messy or too tough to try to do on your own at home. Plan to have a great time while you make a mess. Attend for 10 to 30 minutes during the times scheduled; visit vailrec.com for schedule. 

Daily Art and Science Activites: Painting paper and sand penulum art. Cost: included with your Imagination Station entry fee or membership.

Daily Staff Guided Activity: Held at 11 a.m. and activities offered on a rotating schedule are: puffy paint, sun catcher, puffy slime, glow gak, simple chemistry, balance toys, shrinky art, magnetic marble painting. Cost: included with your Imagination Station entry fee or membership.

Art Studio: Paint Your Own Pottery available every day. Mosaics, wood burning, and other activities available upon request. Cost: $10-$50 depending on the activity and pieces chosen.

Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is proud to feature Lost in the Woods, a juried exhibition of contemporary botanical illustrations featuring the majesty and mystery of trees. The 27 original works of art, presented by the Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists, encourage an appreciation for the wide diversity of trees and meet criteria for scientific accuracy, aesthetics, and technical mastery.


The Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists (RMSBA) is an open and diverse group of artists, collectors and admirers who share a love for the practice and perpetuation of botanical art and illustration with a fond focus on plants in the Rocky Mountain Region.

RMSBA encourages and participates in educational outreach, juried and non-juried exhibits, lectures, workshops and regular chapter meetings. They are proud to be the very first chapter affiliation of the international organization, the American Society of Botanical Artists.

Located in the Education Center in Ford Park, Vail -just west of the Gardens. Suggested donation $5

Come by Betty Ford Alpine Gardens to snowshoe through a winter wonderland*. Enjoy time off the mountain as you make your way through the Garden paths covered in snow and discover the importance of trees and the alpine environment. Warm up afterward with a cup of hot chocolate and engage in drop-in activities available in the Education Center. Snowshoes and poles are available to rent for $5. Youth and adult sizes available.

Registration is not necessary for the self-guided tours and snowshoes are available for parties up to 15 people. First come, first served.

Cost: FREE; snowshoe rental $5

A weekly program for skiers 60 years of age or older, of very advanced intermediate or above skiing ability.  Complimentary all day mountain tour, Mondays only, provided by Vail Resorts through the National Ski Patrol Mountain Host program.  Meets at 9:15am at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola at Gondoly's Pizza on the first level of Eagle's Nest.  Departs at 9:30am. Stop for lunch along the way at one of the mountain restaurants. Tour is limited to the first 30 people to sign up each Monday morning. This is an opportunity to ski with a Mountain Host guide with extensive knowledge of Vail Mountain, its trails, and its ever-changing conditions. Optimize your ski experience while learning about the mountain, meeting new friends, and having a fun and social ski day. Starting Dec 16, 2019.

The approach hopefully includes carefully orchestrated movements, controlled pressure, and well-measured stretches, including range of motion exercises. Postures may be approached in gradual steps, with plenty of time to focus on breathing and repetition so that the practice is simple to do and easy to remember.

Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is proud to feature Lost in the Woods, a juried exhibition of contemporary botanical illustrations featuring the majesty and mystery of trees. The 27 original works of art, presented by the Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists, encourage an appreciation for the wide diversity of trees and meet criteria for scientific accuracy, aesthetics, and technical mastery.


The Rocky Mountain Society of Botanical Artists (RMSBA) is an open and diverse group of artists, collectors and admirers who share a love for the practice and perpetuation of botanical art and illustration with a fond focus on plants in the Rocky Mountain Region.

RMSBA encourages and participates in educational outreach, juried and non-juried exhibits, lectures, workshops and regular chapter meetings. They are proud to be the very first chapter affiliation of the international organization, the American Society of Botanical Artists.
